What on earth is "maths" and "sheis". The question isnt hard at all.

The square root of 2 + square root of 8 = square root of 10. And you can't simplify it anymore. The closest thing would be square root of 8 = square root of 4 + of 2. Which simplifies to 2 square root of 2. But that is not what is asked!!

Or if you wanted to get rid of the square root you just square it. Square root of 2 square = 2. square root of 8 square = 8. 8 + 2 = 10.

Am soo perplexed!! Where did Tracey get 18. Let's do the problem!!

She squared the 8, which really = 8 because that's how you get rid of radicals. I think she multiplied the square root of 8 and got 16 (which is incorrect). But managed to square the radical of 2 which she got 2. Then she added 16 + 2 = 18. close, but she forgot to square the radical of 8 correct.

          What grade is this?

The 2 (a)(b) isn't necessary since you already multiplied the radicals ones to remove the radical. Then you just add the number sighing the parenthesis.

The 18 is wrong, the question is why is it? In my previous post I showed a theory on how Tracey might have gotten 18.

This solves it well I dont think tracey is wrong
Hmm interesting, I wish we could see more of the question.

If you foil it, you get = radical 4 + radical 64. Radical 4= 2. radical 64= 8. You could simplify eight to 2 radical 2 but I dont think the question ask for it to simplify as much as possible. But if you do, you get 2 + 2 radical 2.

Back to answer, if you foil it.

                              8+2= 10.

                              Tracey is wrong.
