  • ~ What We Learn From Trolls (online & in real life)

    Salamalaikum everyone,

I hope you open this thread in best of health and Iman =D

Recent happenings have caused me to ponder upon this and have made me wonder about the benefits we may attain from trolls on boards like these and negative people in real life.

Such people, no doubt, are disturbing and annoying many of us in several ways. They disturb the peace on the forums, or in the work place, the classroom, the train, the family gathering. They bring negativity into our minds and hearts by mentioning disturbing things in an attempt to bring out the worst of us. Their consistently negative and oftentimes rude behavior constantly provokes us and sometimes may even cause us to stoop to their level and try to beat them by responding in their tone of voice or with their words.

But - there is good in every evil and there is a blessing in everything, subhanAllah.

A person who disrupts the peace just may be the one who teaches us patience and tolerance. A person who brings negativity into our environment just may be the one teaching us to increase our faith in positivity, good deeds and moral behavior. Someone who is rude and disrespectful just may be the one to remind us why we promised ourselves to always maintain a polite and respectful conduct. Maybe someone who constantly curses can be a reminder for us to not curse anymore.

Someone who recently was (sarcastically) preaching to deprive women of their rights and such should be a reminder as to *why* we are giving our women the rights and duties they have. Sometimes, seeing the opposite of what we are supposed to do shows how integral that action is. Someone who invests, time, email addresses, PF accounts and many ugly words into preaching disunity and hatred should remind us of how important unity and love for one another truly is.

    They say,

Learn patience from the impatient, love from the hater, tolerance from the intolerant, politeness from the rude and respect from the disrespectful.

Experiencing a negative aspect about someone, be it in their looks, their conduct, the way they dress or carry themselves should not lead us to criticize them but rather, it should make us reflect upon ourselves and remind ourselves of why we have the morals and principles we have and, maybe, even cause us to better ourselves so that we may be different from those whom we dislike, iA.

This is a mere reminder to myself before anyone else.

    Pa Dranasht,

or you can just punch them in their dirty faces lol
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

      @Mayana,
Mayana it seems you are hurt. May be you have felt the jolts of shockwave generated by a badass troll.
First we have to define trolling. Then we have to decide who is troll here and who is not. Then we have to discuss extent of tolerance towards trolling.

Nah, I'm really not hurt, just a little bored.
And this really isn't about trolling and tolerating trolls either. The administration makes decisions as to whose presence is too disruptive of the peace in the fora and so on.

This is about learning from people who don't seem to be able to teach anything and this is about getting the best out of even the most ugly situations and seeing the good in every evil, inshAllah.

Well said Mayana. It sort of shows that the very few enemies we have are getting disturbed and annoyed. They refuse to see us united. I mean, I never knew we had such a huge readership. It seems like we now have almost every ethnic group from Pakistan and Afghanistan on Pf now.
Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

Masha allah splendid post. That is exactly the way I see it, everything happens for a reason. I always go along the lines "What does not kill you can only make you stronger" also "Allah gives no man what he can't handle". This is what developed my patience with people.

Actually this is a cleverly written piece of propaganda to classify certain members as trolls, with a purpose to defame them to the extent that they would ultimately get banned.

The problem of Trolling is of secondary importance, main point of worry is hateful content every where on PF. In forum rules it is clearly written that hateful content is not allowed.

Who has been classified as a troll by the initial post?

Precisely my point. There is hateful content everywhere - I am just making a remark about how we can even gain something from the most hateful content. No need to get paranoid here and throw around baseless accusations, thank you very much.
