You have to understand why many Pashtoons are drawn to Nationalism; historically many abuses, corruptions and exploitations have happened by Governments which have claimed to be representing greater interests; but were not. Sometimes it seemed to favor certain individuals but the population at self either suffered or were marginalized. Many of these problems are left over from the Imperial Days; and it was based on the principle of "Divide and Rule"
Sometimes I understand why someone like Toramana might accuse me of being some sort of covert Arabist using Islam as a ploy, because when I see Saudi Arabia, that's definitely the kind of facade of religion that they personify. Even though I have made it abundantly clear that my views/approach/belief are not along those lines; the stigma is there in the Muslim world. My issue is that that stigma is also being used by other agendas to further the problem and further their interests; Divide and Rule. Keeping people constantly conflict with themselves makes them easier to exploit and manipulate.
This is why I try to avoid the ethnic card; it brings no good, because someone always gets sidelined or stepped on or made to feel inferior in the end. Even though I believe Pashtoons have every right to protect their heritage, culture; it should never be at any others expense, same goes for anyone else. I don't support regional or ethnic nationalism, whether it's Afghan, Arab, Pakistan, Kurd or otherwise; I don't support Sectariism or disunity along those lines. We are really in the end One People; we need to learn to Love each other or we'll be caught in the vicious cycle of poverty, destitute slavery and subservience forever. The sooner we realize this the sooner we can heal.
