Randomness about myself:
The life of a convert...
It is BRUTAL at times. My family has disowned me saying I belong to a religion that is "the cancer of the earth". My dad had a heart attack and nearly died and blamed it all on me accepting Islam. I am fearful everyday that one of my parents will die and die with hate in their heart towards me. They kicked me out for wearing hijab, not drinking alcohol, and dressing "too modest". I have tried EVERYTHING to talk to them. I even let them take me to a priest, who then said if I was living a pious life, they should accept it - and they still refused. Of course, Islam to them is everything the media teaches, and they don't need to learn anything else. I live on my own and struggle everyday to afford it - but Allah swt helps me through.
I am in love with a Pashtun man who wants to marry me, and has for the last 3 years, but his parents flat out refuse because no matter how religious I am, being Pashtun and marrying pashtun comes before religion to them and people will "talk".
So, I am very, very alone and oftentimes very depressed - but I put up with it everyday because I know no matter how hard it is to wake up every morning and deal with reality, I know Islam is the truth.

For all of you born Muslim, born into a Pashtun family, you really need to appreciate how lucky you are. If you think life is better being "Americanized", you're wrong. It is miserable, it is unfair, and woman actually have no rights. If you want to be Americanized and abandon Pashtun culture, you better be blond, walk around naked, and be a size 0 - or else you're not good enough. But as a Muslim, you are measured by your devotion to Allah, and your brain, not by how you look. So appreciate and love who you are.

Sister, I feel for you...may Allah bless you for realising the right path. For the true muslims this world is a prison as it was for our dear Prophet (SAW). Allah gives us hardships so that we learn our lesson and strengthen our belief. I pray that things will become easier for you insha allah. I love those people who convert to islam with their own will and try their best to stick to the deen
