herati pashtuns

Some people even claim great Ahmad Shah baba was born in herat but some historains disagree.
Herat is one of the most beautiful city of afghanistan.
The herati people i found more civilised in afghanistan.
The herat city is sarounded by many people of pashtun origin but not sure how many of them speak pakhto today.Most of them belong to durani sub-tribes.
There are many pashtun living in pashtun zargon and sheen dund area of herat province but they also speak farsi and not pashto.
I need more information on herati pashtuns.
I want to know some herati pashtun still speak pashto or not.
Most of them i met are farsiwans.
The majority of herati people are also farsiwans.
farah province is another example where people of pashtun origin make up more then half but less then 35% people there speak pashto is their first language.
A freind of mine told me that farahi pashtuns speak pashto at home but in market they speak only farsi even with fellow pakhtuns.
Pashto is disappearing very fast in westren afghanistan.
Also our durani brothers are good in becoming farsiwans.
The govt should do something for pashto in westren afghanistan.
It is also fact that iran is doing everything possible to promote persain language and culture and they are supporting people like ismail khan to do this.
I am not against farsi language but pashto has every right to be protected by the people and govt.

I called him kandahri pashtun and he was.
No matter where he was born but his origin was kandarai.

salam wrora, a lot of pashtuns do reside there but unfortunately they have lost thier mother tongue, the reasons as to why i am not sure but it is sad that more and more pashtuns these days are favouring speaking dari/farsi etc over pashto, i think 1 reason is iran, people want to do business with it and having 1 language supports the business platform, on top of thyat its the goverment who has become weak in recognizing that dari is taking over and all its doing is sitting on its ass and letting it happen, its time we had some serious pashtuns in goverment who bring pashtu back all over afghanistan and instate 100 percent pashtun rule.

in herat i think the majority ethnic group is pashtun.
even on the border with iran lay pashtuns and they still wear the old pashtun clothes.
most herati pashtuns may not be speaking pashto but they sure have pashtun culture and clothes.

i know two herati families well. one is a safi family. they are dari and pashto speakers. other family is dari speaking, but know some pashto learnt from school.
both very repectable.

i agree, herat is beautiful with the most beautiful Herat Jami Masjid.

but still afghanistan is 70% dari speaking, The goverment is doing nothing to keep pashto strong in their country
