It depends heavily on the decision you're about to undertake. In any case though, it is good to weigh the pros and cons, how going in a particular direction will affect you and those around you. We're all human, we ourselves can be right or wrong, just as others can be too.

consider the suggestions of others but base your decisions on what you believe in yourself. if you are wrong you can always take the lesson and walk away hoping to do better next time and if you are right, you can pat yourself in the back and be proud of yourself. much much better than blaming others for the mistakes you have made or looking back at life hoping you had followed your own heart or been a bit more in charge of it than you were to that point...
