It is a Asian version of Viagra, its also used for arthiritis and other things, but these claims are not proven by any health authrotiy.

Salajeet ( or shilajit) is a blackish brown natural mass found from steep rocks of the Himalayan belt,of Pakistan, Afghanistan, China, Bhutan, Nepal, Kashmir and USSR.

Many traditional doctors in Pakistan claim Salajeet has the ability to reverse aging and anti-inflammatory properties that can relieve joint pain and inflammation.

                    MINING AND PROCESSING

Salajeet is mined in mountainous regions such as in the Himalayas. It actually comes out from the mountains themselves. In the summer time, it kind of becomes soft and putty like, so it is difficult to mine. If one were to shoot up at it , the bullet would just go into it. Thus, it is mined almost exclusively in the winter. Again, guns are used and it is shot at. Since it is frozen, it shatters and the dark brown/black fragments fall in the snow and can easily be collected.

Once it is "mined" it has to be processed (because in its raw form it is not safe to consume). This "process" mainly consists of melting and then boiling these fragments. It is boiled for a very long period of time (the exact time of which I do not know) until it is fit for human consumption. It is cooled once again (at which point it re-solidifies) and then is broken into tiny crystal pieces.

                    CONSUMPTION

Salajeet is to be taken before sleeping. A tiny piece approximately 2 mm in diameter is all that should be consumed. It should be followed by a cold glass of milk or crumbled into the milk and drank that way. Most people say that they feel so warm the next morning that they want to jump into a tub of ice.

                    REASONS FOR CONSUMPTION

Salajeet can only be consumed for certain reasons. It is highly discouraged to consume it on a regular basis or for no reason.

                    1. Salajeet induces heat (garmi) in the body. You might have heard elders say how some people are hot blooded while others are cool blooded. Hot blooded people are associated with being healthier, stronger etc. while cool blooded people are "less" of those things. It is used in the snowy mountains to stay warm.

                    2. Another one of the most common reasons is bone fractures. Salajeet has incredible properties related to the speeding up of the healing of broken bones. In the mountains where it is severely cold, a broken bone can take a long time to heal but there have been cases in which Salajeet has healed injured people much faster than people who did not use it. This is partly due to the garmi inducing nature of it, as well as it's other "mysterious" properties.

                    3. It's properties on "hormonal activity" in men have been known for a long time in villages and has recently been researched by a group of Russian scientists. It was found to caontain a large amount of triterpenes. The Chinese have also used Salajeet for it's virility increasing properties for generations. This increase in virility is purely an effect of Salajeet’s balance restoring properties. There is nothing in Salajeet that actively stimulates sexual desire, it only restores hormonal balances to their norm.

                    4. Wrestlers (pahalvan) use Salajeet to strengthen their bones. This is the only case in which the regular use of it is allowed. The reason being that perspiration releases the extra garmi and it does not harm the body. The myth that Salajeet can make your bones "as strong as iron" is apparently believed by many a pahalvan.

The garmi that is induced by Salajeet can be harmful. That is why the regular use of it is discouraged almost always. This garmi can harm the liver, it can cause acne, stomach problems, and lathargy.

                    INTERESTING INFORMATION

Most people believe that Salajeet was discovered by the Langur monkeys that inhabit these northern and mountainous areas. The Langur's eat the Salajeet raw. The miraculous thing about them is that they can jump from one mountain to another (yes, mountain). The distance and force required to do so would shatter their bones, but incredibly nothing happens to them. Most people say that this astonishing feat is attributed to Salajeet and it's affects on bone development.

Bro, this is my own write-up about Salajeet from a while back. Most of the information comes from either people I have talked to or myself, as I have samples of pure Salajeet.

I don't mind if you want to use it in a magazine, although I have no sources to site here. I am not much of a translator, so if any of you want to do that you are welcome to. Or you could post it in English if that works?

No problem man. Bro, there are actually several online companies that sell it now, but I am not sure if it is as pure as back home, you know.

The Salajeet I have is from Landi Kotal, Khyber and it is pretty old, but they say it gets better with age.

I used to take a tiny bit before working out sometimes. I am pretty sure it improves bone density and stuff and if you are doing weights like the ones in your avatar it will definitely help you out.

Yeah, it will warm you up, you won't need a jacket anymore lol j/k. As far as I know it is perfectly legal. According to the Russian research, there is nothing illegal about it.
