2. PATA stands for provincially administered tribal areas...basically they form a tier of government in Pashtunkhwa. They are within provincial administration but have differences from Frontier regions and settled districts. They are basically comprised of the malakand division (Swat, Buner, Shangla, Dir, Malakand agency) and I believe thor ghar as well.
^^article 246 b deals with these areas.
