My uncle brought me a doll from france when I was very young. I would wash her head 20 times a day. The guys would hang her from a tree branch to tease me. It bothered me so much. One time I cried so much so my dad scolded them off... Her head fell off eventually.
I loved her just as much so I carried her around headless.

I am no bird, and no nest ensnares me.

non commercial would cost less if he was in charge himself which he plans on doing. right now it's n herat but soon it will be in qanadahar.

                  ^LOLLLL!

i actually didn't have any favorite toy. i rarely played with toys.. after age of 5. i liked to be in company of older people... where i could hear their discussion about current political events, or sports or anything else grown up. My mom still reminds me of it sometimes... how i was never a child.

but now i wish i had lived my childhood to the fullest... i grew up tooooo fast... and thats not good!

Mine was a scissor.. (qaichi or byatei)
I always kept one in my pocket and would cut everything..

I have cut over 100s of curtains, palakhtono pokhona, rugs,Lungai and everything which would come in front of me.. I loved the Grachhh voice of the scissor... Laters my mom and other family members as well as the neighbours and relatives got to know that i am the one whoz cutting everything and they would search my pockets everyday everytime lol..

I used to steal ppl's scissors from their homes and would love to collect them.

Oh and marbles (tushla,bilawrei).. i had one jar full of it..

I used to roll car tyre on streets, with bare feet, with running nose.
Also " gholail" (pata nishta english che tse warta wai) was my favourite toy. gholail is best weapon for a pashtun kid.
also we used to do hunting of sparrows outside village with "prrata"

hmm i had many many toys my dad used 2 bring me all these western toys when i used to be in kandahar, like latest airplanes that wer remote controlled, cars, trucks anything a kid could have in a western country really but they were nuthing compared to playing around with sling shot shooting down birds or bats at night!! my mum used to get me new sling shot every week becouse i wud use it so much end opf the week it wud be broken.
2nd best thing was making mud tanks wid mud soldiers in the mornings and den leaving them 2 dry and den afternoon tym pretend to have a war wid cuzans or brothers and dah :D

remembering this kinda makes me think being brought up in kandahar was the best thing ever!!!

Playing hide and seek with cousins... Not having a place to hide and being burried under a pile of hay in the barn by one of the older cousins... Lossing your beautiful hair due to the hay that is stuck to it and getting cursed at the same time...
My childhood was not that bleak after all.
