mystique, it's not so much that media or the viewers prefer women with Caucasian features in Indian, irani or Pakistani movies but that women of those countries limit their own choices for a career by depending on their looks too much. That is a very personal opinion though. Very rarely do you come across a beautiful woman whose main point of focus in life is not her looks. It's not that they are chosen because they are Caucasian looking but because they have no other option than making a living off of selling their image.
Look at this guy South Indian actor..



He has been working with the likes of aishwaria rai for years.. Can you imagine a woman of similar similar physical attributes playing a leading role in a movie?? Why don't his audiences vote him out???


And why is it that the articles in this thread give out statistics for human behavior based in experiments conducted on lions??

Good question, maybe becuase they do it for themself, to feel beautiful and not for the men...
Most men also don't even like women who are model thin or that have a lot of make up on, but still women do all those things anway....

they don't do it for themself, they do it so that other look at her and say you look really beautiful

but in the reality this girls with tousands ton of make up on their face use make up as a mask and have a lots of problems with their personality

I suppose this preference for pale skin goes back a long way. People who worked in the fields all day had dark skin and others recognised their low status whereas the rich kids who were pampered in doors and had servants to do the work for them had lighter skin. Hence, lighter skin usually meant a higher status in the social hierarchy. Also, those with lighter skin had better health.

But I think nowadays with global warming on the rise and skin cancer incidents are augmenting, people prefer partners with tan skin, so their future generations should have a better protection against the ever increasing amount of UV rays.

This is just my perspective on this topic.

Tanning to be attractive amongst europeans is relatively recent trend, recall all the rage for powder white complexions in period drama/movies (draughtman's contract, barry lindon, more recent, dangerous liaisons) related to the bourgeois classes wiping out signs of proletariat trait of the tan from working in the fields, and covering up skin disorders.

Juxtapose this with the wealthier pale population of european descent who during 50s, 60s and 70s could afford to fly to spain, italy and france for holidays and show this jet setting life style in their holiday tan, before tan studios high street norms. The australian, some americans and RSA lot didn't suffer this hangup, they had no option but the to due to their sunnier locations, and as the atlantic gap narrowed, the euro tan perspective became the norm, the salient example being George Hamilton who went insanely tan. So now with a tan you look good because of the superficial idea of being wealthy and association fallacy that you look better, and ironically some darker immigrants are showing preference for a tan!!!! Nowadays dark skin mean you can make a vacation in a sunny country or go to the solarium. So it means you have got enough money and a high status.

I still think its more about the taste and how a person looks when he is tan. Brown peopel want to become lighter becuase than our skin look even, white peopel wants to be tan becuase than there skin also become even and there colored eyes looks brighter. I don't think that most of the peopel nowdays think about being tan is rich and being pale is poor, its more to do whith beauty and looks, maybe in the begining it was like that but now its not.

I can agree with but I still remain at my opinion.
I don't know if you are light or dark. But lighter people show with their tan that their achieve a vacation or a walk to solarium. And they are very pround of their tan and tell everybody where they were.
