Piercings are permissible within the bounds of Islam. As I said in an earlier post, you basically draw the line when your purpose of adornment clashes with changing the creation of Allah. Nose or ear piercings, or any piercings of the sort are not considered haraam for that reason. Piercings are permissible in Islam for the simple reason that Allah has made it permissible for women to beautify themselves with jewellery of gold and silver, either for themselves, or that of the pleasure of their husbands. Things like tongue and belly piercings would be slightly different, because alongside pain, the issue of health problems arising as a result is highly likely and Allah has forbidden a person to do anything by means of which he harms himself.
Thank you Mesbah. I was worried, Kids in the west are growing up very badly. Here in New York yes the teenagers can speak Pashto but the way they act is a big crazy. I am also born here Mesbah. I dont do bad things like they do. Although sometimes I do.
Putting the word Mesbah, and her supposed children having tongue piercings in one sentence, is a failure in many ways. So, worry not.
My nose piercing is in the left...
They have a saying here that the right side means you're a lesbian, left side you're not...crazy North America, huh?
Anyway...
I once met a salafi girl who had her lip pierced, and wore Niqab so only women and her husband saw it. She said she did it because it pleased her husband...so in this case it was permissible. So is plucking eyebrows. She said that Aisha (pbuh) said what comes first is pleasing your husband, over being unattractive in his eyes.
Muslimah: As stated earlier, and in previous threads, the point that is being made is that you do are not to change Allah's creation. Plucking eyebrows falls into this category. That does not apply to all types of hair removal of course. That is a different topic altogether. In the case of piercings which only Mahrams see, most Fatawaa say that it is permissible. This also includes jewels on teeth. Islam does not prevent a woman from beautifying herself. Instead, her doing it, especially for the pleasure of her husband is considered Ibadah. If, however, this beautification crosses bounds, it is not permissible. And I think that is self-explanatory.
