How come many countries around the world have abandoned traditional clothing for western clothing


For example iran, Lebenon, Egypt, China, Japan etc... and many others I have never anyone from there in traditional clothes

I think slowly even India is following this, though rural india will probably never abandon it, they are still very traditional. In Pakistan luckily Shalwar Kameez is still there and going no where.

The countries you've mentioned still use the traditional clothes " not sure about Iran and China though" .
In Egypt upper Egyptian still wear their Jallabiyah , women of different areas still use their own clothes , in Japan they still use the Kimono and other traditional costumes . In Lebanon they do wear in some areas .

A correct way to say it is : People who wear their traditional clothes are getting less in some countries , or in some areas .

Maybe because it is difficult and more expensive to find some of the traditional clothing most of the time and that people are too shy to wear them outside?

Maybe some are expensive , but shy ? Maybe if the person was in a different area/country .
I know some people who are always in their traditional clothes whenever I see them .

In some countries you have different options , in Libya for example you can spend less or more depending on what you're going to wear, same in Kuwait and United Arab Emirates and few other countries I guess. Not sure about the cost of traditional costumes in Greece, Scotland ...etc

True, i only saw egyptians in villages or small towns wearing traditional clothes but not in main cities. Also from Lebanon and all of that area in northern middle east hardly wears traditional clothes anymore

but why not?? even in their own countries??? even the conscious of people has been westernized

I wasn't meaning shy in their own country, but wearing for example traditional shalwar kameez, pakol etc in the US? Doesn't it change peoples outlook on you?

Even Western people have their own traditional clothing that they have left behind in the change of times... I quite like the old hats and long coats lol

Maybe it's now a world trend to leave behind the past?

Dear Elsii, it is true even what we consider traditional oftenonce wasn'T traditional.
It is somehow strange.
In Armenia for example traditional clothes are mostly used now only for some nationl holidays(even if not so long ago they were used much more). But the way Armenians dress today is not traditional but even not western norm.
Men always wear only black things, shoes with long noses and so on- so you can recognize them from far.
Traditional clothes in reality are even not object of bying, as mostly they were made by local women and for this reason for example here every place had distinct ornaments on their clothes(in the attechment there are some axamples).
I am sure like that it was in the whole world, but confirmization and longing for material status have destroyed it.
