      Re: Afghan Traditional Dress

Hey no problem people, love to share it, afterall its our traditional dresses

I have worn nearly all of the dresses except for the big purple and pink dress, i am saving that for an occasion. The last green dress i posted up is planned for a certain future occasion ( ) and the ones from my childhood i am saving for my daughter.

i am going to a party this Saturday so tell me what dress should i wear. Not the purple, pink, or green one. :D I am going for the black/blue/green one, do you guys agree, help me out! :D

Could you post pictures of yours?
James, shalwaar or salwaar (referred to it that way by Punjabis) dates back to the time when the Moghul Empire ruled in the areas known as Pakistan and India today. Shalwaar is the name given to a 'wide' or loose stitched pant (or partug) and kameez or kamees (as you would pronounce it) is the name given to the dress/shirt. Originally it comes from the Arabic word Qamees. I can't (obviously) post things from my own wardrobe, but these two pics are as close as they get to mine. I have all kinds, I just cant find decent pictures...you know what I mean (sangeen!). The second (first?) is a lengha, a two piece set, usually a short sleeve/sleeveless or long sleeve top and a skirt - different styles (cuts) for different occasions. They might get posted the other way around. Cream and Maroon is Shalwaar Kameez, and Blue is Lengha

        ...doompa doompa doomp!

                    Re: Afghan Traditional Dress

Yeah true, in London you could've got some nice ones, if you went to the right places

Most of mine come from Pak anyways.

You could just make a few suits and then loads when you get there.

^ Haha lol, mothers ey

My mum's the same man, she doesn't wear western clothes, but she sure loves to shop.

Before we went on holiday, she told me to make sure she doesn't spend too much. So when I reminded her, she was like oh don't worry I'm not gna buy anything else.

But anyways I'm drifting, your Afghan dresses are gorgeous.
