                    if you are taking make up then don't forget your foundation brush. they don't have those stuff back there. don't take too much because girls dont wear make up there and you dont want too look stupid and odd by wearing too much.
                    i would take the following stuff only
                    extra chargers
                    two sets of cloths and your toothbrush
                    pain killers and some antibiotics
                    wet cloths and sunscreen
                    spare yourself the misery of shipping half of your bedroom. you are not going to a cave. they have everything else there. save your money for when you get there.

                    your relatives or cousins your age don't have what you have here. don't make them feel bad by taking too much. you will come across as a snob with your 5 different purses and 15 pairs of shoes.

                    I am no bird, and no nest ensnares me.

                    non commercial would cost less if he was in charge himself which he plans on doing. right now it's n herat but soon it will be in qanadahar.

                      Here sister, i can help you would with this:

                      If you are going to take makeup, particularly foundation, i highly recommend taking a 'light' foundation. The reason, different environment. No matter how often you visit back home, your skin is not adapted enough to the different environment and climate. So if you use a light foundation then it will less likely cause breakouts, sun spots, and wrinkles, etc. How about skipping foundation, and going with a good concealer and loose mineral powder. While i was visiting back home, i took with me drugstore foundation. It was Maybelline Pure Makeup (green/blue bottle). It was light and not heavy or left a caky feeling.

                      Here is my list of things that i think you should take with you, as you will most likely need it.

                      * Apricot Face Scrub....like I said, its a total different environment, your skin will not be used to it.
                      * A non-Sulfate (SO4) Shampoo and Conditioner. Reason is that their water is different than the water in UK, USA, Canada, etc. So it will be a little harsh for your hair.
                      * Good deordarant
                      * Q-tips
                      * plenty of safety pins
                      * a good bar of soap
                      * a good pair of flip flops....that way it is easy to go around the bathrooms there
                      * body wipes.......you will need it for sure.
                      * a good moisturizer......hmmm maybe not so much of sunblock. Moisturizers already have a good amount of SPF in them.
                      * Pain killers :IB, Advil, Tylenol, etc.
                      * Stomach medicine......though i didnt have any problems, but you just never know what may happen
                      * a good pair of sandals that is well padded
                      * a energy converter.....for your camera, etc.
                      * A journal......i took one, though something happened to it (long story) but you just never know what experiences you will come upon.
                      * Take a good loofah

                      Do not take:
                      * That many clothes. You will just end up making no room for luggage. Plus i am sure you will buy a lot of clothes there, so as you are traveling there, go a little bit light.
                      * Any personal, meaningful items. You will be surprised at how desperate people are to steal.
                      * If you happen to use anything that takes a lot of energy: hairdryer, etc.
                      * Go easy on the shoes lol i can promise you wont wear more than half of them. I took like 10 pairs of sandals with me, and only came back home with 4 pairs. The rest are in my aunts house lol
                      * If you like to wear accessories, i do say to not take many.....if any at all lol. There are plenty there, for cheap, and will match your clothes.

                      hmmm okay i cant think of anymore at the moment. My brain is fried from pulling all-nighters this whole week :/

                        hmm thanks all. Laila I was actually waiting for yours lol I knew you were gonna gimme a long one

                        well actually I have never taken any makeup there on my previous trips, since I dont even wear any at all - but this one is going to be diff inshAllah.

                        I only took one pair or flip flops last time and was told by the end of the trip that they are so old I should put them in a museum LOL

                        I only took one pair of clothes to wear the first night and the clothes that I was wearing on the trip lol.. I actually wore the one pair of flip flops on the trip.

                          LOL :D

                          If you have the store, Old Navy, near you......go to it right now! I am telling you, the best flip flops are in Old Navy. Nearly every sandal flip flop i wore to Laghman and Kabul ended up really old looking, and some got totally ruined. But not the flip flops i had in Old Navy. Not only they actually lasted, but they were so comfortable too......oh and its only 2 for $5

                          If you do take makeup.....dont take too much. Like DZJ said earlier, the females back home are not used to makeup and other lavish things......so just go light with it. I would say go with a good powder, plenty of makeup brushes, blush or bronzer.....most likely blush, eyeshadow, eyeliner, and mascara. Thats basically all you need. Nothing else. But if you are taking makeup with you for the reason i think you are, PM me and i will help you out with that.

                          Just take a few pair of clothes with you, that should last you a week until i am sure all your relatives have piles of clothes they bought you by now. LOL all my aunts bought me so much clothes, i barely even wore the clothes i bought with me.
