I'm not too much into luxurious outfits, but then when I think about it, I'm like, heck you get this ONE day to be on the display :D I mean, it's like a one-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be as beautiful as you want to be, whatever looking beautiful means to you. And it's not very nice to look more beautiful than the bride in other people's weddings, you know? (So much so that people start to think YOU are the bride! The mother-in-law of a friend of mine once purposely made her look extra beautiful at someone else's wedding, and the photographer and many guests/visitors thought she was the bride, and, of course, the real bride was offended.) So, see, you have only that one day - take advantage of it, and look like the queen that you are! I know I'mna be taking advantage of it and making sure my dress is like absolutely perfect -- no, wait, beyond perfect (perfect for me, of course).
Whoooaa! I like the ones that fit perfectly in the waist and chest areas, even tight (no, not too tight that it'll break your internal organs and you can't breathe in it, though. Just tight enough for you to know it's not killing you!).
^^ Yeah, i had that dress in mind for so long. My dress will be pure white and princess-like.
I find it really fascinating that many (or all?) Pashtuns in Afghanistan wear white during their weddings while no Pashtuns on the other side of the Duran Line wear white (they wear red or blue or green, but usually red, instead). I mean, if I ever told my mom I want a white dress for my wedding, she'd be like, "WHAT??? You're abandoning your culture! No. You're going to have the traditional red/maroon/etc. dress because we are not Americans; we are Pukhtuns!"lol. (I'd prefer a white one, really.)
I'mna have to take several years to convince my family that this dress isn't for "Kabulis" (an insulting term when said like this) and is our traditional outfit! :S Once I convince them, then I will wear it. I've never, ever owned an Afghan/Pukhtun dress, so what could be better than wearing one for the first time on your wedding, yeah?!

Yeah we do wear white. Though in some villages, a green Afghan dress is worn. Usually when the engagement is thrown, the girl wears green, pink, or purple. From what i have seen and heard.
bahahahahaha! Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure!... you guys have bridesmaids, too? See, see? That's too cool, man! I'd love to be yours!
Well i dont know about back home...but yeah we do bridesmaids here....i was a bridesmaid for my cousins brother-in-laws wedding. And all the bridesmaids changed into Afghan dresses for bringing in the nakreezi and attan.
so you will wear an Afghan dress
Though our bride wears the white wedding dress then the traditional outfit, both guy and girl.
