I watched a very upsetting movie today called Unthinkable starring Samuel Jackson. In this movie an American revert plants 3 nuclear bombs in the USA in an attempt to influence foreign policy and this movie is about how they torture him to try to get him to tell where the bombs are at. It was sooooooooooo horrible the things they did to him
I know this was just a movie but we all know such terrible things really do happen and I feel sick after seeing this movie
I get very sad when I think too much about how cruel and barbaric human beings can be
This movie made me think to myself "Is there ever an acceptable time to torture someone?" "What if torturing one man could say the life of thousands?" "What if the person being tortured had murdered innocent people does it make him deserving of torture?"

Yeah, fellow Lewanai, that movie was very thought-provoking. Should we torture? The character played by Carrie Ann goes through what the director assumed would be the audience's dilemma. Towards the end, she tells Samuel L. Jackson's character to "do what you have to do" although in the beginning, the thought alone of torturing the 'terrorist' made her sick.
And who's worse? Someone who wants to nuke an entire population? His demands were just - the Western-backed Arab tyrants have more blood on their hands than Shi'ites on Ashura. But were his actions just?
And is torture acceptable if it will save lives? Alternatively, if we (and I'm assuming the role of an American here though that's hard nowadays without being obese and ignorant) torture, doesn't it automatically mean that we've lost already?
All in all, I liked the movie because it made the cogs inside my head turn.
I watched The Life of David Gale today. I love Kevin Spacey. I'd give the movie an 8 on 10."If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be".
"Knowledge will forever govern ignorance; and a people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives".
