  • the tragedies of jagjit singh' life

chitra and jagjit singh had two children one of which was a biological son and an adopted daughter. unfortunately both of them passed away. the son died in a car accident and the daughter committed suicide.
so does any one else in here think that their careers are influenced by the death of their children? isn't that very very sad?

Yes. My dad also told me that there was lot more dard in their voices after the tragic death of their son .

also i have heard that his wife stopped singing after their son's death....

tum itna jo muskora rahe ho kya ghum hai jisko chupa rahe ho....a lovely ghazal

no. 1 is of course.....Kagaz ki kashti, baarish ka paani....

His sister was my dad's colleague and we lived in the same locality. Her son, Jagjit Singh's nephew was also my Engg. college junior by 2 years. Cant remember his nephew's name but he once organized a college fund-raiser for a classmate who was seriously ill. Jagjit Singh came and sang for 2 hours for free and I guess they had a healthy ticket collection.

And on his singing, though people do like his sad songs more, I like the following song from Sarfrosh the best...

Hoshwalon ko khabar kya...Bekhudi kya cheez hai...
