In Pakistan, there are 2 different products. The products that are made in Pakistan that are shipped to the West are of superior quality and the products manufactured in Pakistan for Pakistanis domestic use is of inferior quality. Most people are aware of this and so Anything American or Western is synonymous with superior quality.

But what con artists do and there are a lot in Pakistan is that they put made in America label on almost everything to try to fool the customer

rasasi amongst many others mentioned above are not even american products as claimed by this shop keeper. furthermore, those people don't buy things based on where it was produced but depending on how pricey they are. people are often under the misconception that a higher value of a product means better quality which is simply not true.
they buy it because it's expensive, not because it is made in america.

not because i love taliban but because i hate morons.

Let me break it down to you Afghans.

In Pakistan we craft luxury carpets, the best cotton in Asia, and superior textiles to anyone in the region.

I have personally went to Pakistan and bought 20 shirts with Armani logo for $17 Us dollars.

Most of the products supplied to US are from Pakistan. There are always two versions of a product. The "official" is sewn in Vietnam or Laos and the "fake" is sewn in Pakistan or Bangladesh. But the funny part is that regardless, the cotton is from Pakistan nonetheless.

Dealers will lie, but in actuality the product is the same. Brand name sells. So If a woman thinks she got a real deal purse from Thailand, as opposed to a "fake" from Pakistan, then she is ignorant of the fact that it was made the same way, with same materials. LOL

I think the point the article is alluding to is that it sounds to "good to be true" which makes people question if the product is fake or really real. Certain countries only manufacture products in their own country or certain selected countries where they have factories. As for your Armani issue, you are aware that it is a high end clothing company is mainly appealed for the rich right? you claim that you can buy 20 pieces for $17 yet looking at their website, the average Armani shirt cost around $40 US. Even with a fake logo, it makes you look cheap.

Most people rip on other folks for wearing cheap knock offs because it makes them look fake.

You are talking about Afghans in the west who think that way. The people back in Afghanistan buy something cheap and tell people they bought it expensive and the reason they do that to make people think he/she is living the high life.

You are right about the carpets but most other products like T shirts, pants, shoes, hygiene products, etc are of inferior quality. Most products in Pakistan are inferior compare to the ones they ship to the West regardless where its made besides there is so much con artists there, no one really knows where anything is made.

FYI, they could put the Armani logo on almost anything, but its not the Armani quality you could get here in the west.
