Well one of the dumbest procedures I had to go through to get my driving test was in a neighbouring (nameless) Gulf country to the one that I'm in at the moment (one where women are allowed to drive).

My wife and I duly turned up at the licensing place - they looked at our license and decided that since we had EU licenses all we need to do was to take a sight test so they pointed to two doors - one said MEN ONLY and other said WOMEN ONLY. Living in an Arab country, this is normal. So we looked at one another and said "Good Luck" and off we went - I went through my door, she through hers.

The door led to another room and guess what ... I saw my wife there - she'd followed her door just like had followed mine!!?!?

The guy who was supposed to take the sight test was asleep behind his desk, I had to nudge him awake. He looked at me and then my Mrs and then scribbled something on a piece of paper and handed it to me. He did the same for my wife and then muttered something in Arabic and put his head down again.

I asked my wife what it said on her paper - she looked at me, shrugged her shoulders and said, "I've passed".

And that, is a true story.

i had my dubai license
i went to DMV..
told the lady i have international license..
she was like.. No No.. u have to pass the tests..
i was like ok.. sat with her in da car after paper test
drove for 10 mins and got it..
its so easy to get a DL in America..
Dubai wont give u license till u cry
some guys dont get DL after spending $ 10000 and about 10 yrs..
