    Bollywood Actor Aamir Khan roots are from Afghanistan

    Being a descendant of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, his roots can be traced to the city of Herat, Afghanistan. Aamir Khan was born in 1965 in Bandra's Holy Family Hospital, Mumbai, India in a Muslim family that has been actively involved in the Indian motion picture industry for several decades.

    His father, Tahir Hussain, is a film producer while his deceased uncle, Nasir Hussain, was a film producer as well as a director. He is also a descendant of former President of India, Dr. Zakir Hussain and a second cousin to former Chairperson of Rajya Sabha, Dr Najma Heptullah.

    The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

      naseerudin shah's ties to Afghanistan are even stronger. He has an uncle or cousin who contributed a lot to the 19th century Farsi literature in Afghanistan. I don't know where I read it but once I find that article, I will surely share it.

        Call me ignorant, but I had no clue. I heard of these 'theories' but I just thought it was Afghans chest-thumping and assuming.

          I already knew this, all the khans in Bollywood are of Pashtun origin. I'm pretty sure everyone knew this.

              Pashtuns were the largest foriegn settlers in hindostan...unlike turks, mughals, uzbeks, iranis etc who resided in cities, pashtuns settled as zamindaars in rural , much like thakurs(rajputs)...
