I am not sure what's the situation right now, but the area is under paki army control. I don't believe the paki army would ban music. In he article she is mentioned to have joined the Islamic preachers(tablighi jumat) which is a lie.

I have been to Swat recently as invited by few dear friends there. I have visited Swat many times in past. Music was officially banned by Taliban when they were the rulers of Swat in 2009-11.

Now it is not banned officially but Tableeghi Jumaat which is very strong in Swat has almost extirpated music from Swat. Even you may not find music in marriage ceremonies and other social occasions. Music is considered haram by tableeghi Jumaat and deobandis who represent about 95% of the religious population of Swat.

Before Taliban another extremist group Ishat e tawheed(panjpeeris) was dominant who also played a pivotal role in rooting out music from swat. This group has also eliminated Sufis and saints from the area. Now Swatis do not celebrate on Sufi shrines as they used to do in past.

Many Islamic scholors don't consider music to be allowed by Islam. That's a different thing Faye. I know many people belonging to Tableeghi Jamat who will listen to music and they consider it Haram i.e., not allowed by Islam.
