  • Dances Similar to Attan

Please post them. I've heard many people say there are dances, in particular in Greece, that are similar to our Attan.
Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

    -Ferishta, 1560–1620

I havn't seen something similar in Greece. However in Sistan I think they dance in a quiet similar way.

      it is a lie.

they want to claim that attan is actually Athene and that it is a greek dance.

this theory is put forward by those who want to claim that Afghanistan was influenced by these invaders.
they also claim that the blond blue eyed pashtuns are also result of that invasion.

      total non sense.

they also say that pakol is greek but how can pakol be greek when greece has a ht weather.

And wasn't Afghanistan in the distant past influenced by Greek trends in architecture, arts, urban style?
I am not saying that Pakol is Greek and that blue eye people from Afghanistan are direct descendants of Alexander the Great, but Afghanistan due to its strategic location and silk routes has not been separated from foreign influences.

Dear brother Afghan, this one is a strange version, normaly it is no woman dance. It makes me laugh and cry how some things in my country go completely wrong way! Its a warior dance , so normali women never perform it.

i know what you mean there are some move of the dance which are close to attan. i love the dances from caucus region they are unique. in the video the dancers are professional, they must have made changes for comercial purposes.

The apache indians of America also have a war dance in which the participated in before going to war. Forget what's its called though.
