  • Zarine Khan - Pashtun or Not a Pashtun?

Zarine Khan (Hindi: ज़रीन ख़ान, Pashto: زرین خان) is an Indian actress and model who appears in Bollywood films. She made her acting debut in the 2010 period film Veer co-starring with Salman Khan.[4] Khan has been noted for looks very similar to actress Katrina Kaif.

Not too familiar with bollywood. Is this person pashtun? whats your verdict, maybe DZJ can help.

to make you realize that fixiating over a bollywood actress while nagging others for merely listening to bollywood music is shameful, lousy, cheap, moronish, disgusting, hypocritical, shallow, distasteful, ridiculous and lame. good night.

wasn't there a thread about her already lol?

anyways she probably is, but probably has lost her culture, there were many pashtuns left in northern india at some point, but I guess they probably mixed in the local cultures

well a very easy question to answer that, do you guys consider the male "khans" of Bollywood as pashtun ?

Brother we don't consider people born to Pashtun parents on Pashtun land dancing and singing in Pashto language Pashtun (i.e. daman). Why would we consider an Indian Pathan as such? If we consider her Pashtun, we might as well add the 100 million desi in Pakistan, India and Bangladesh claiming Pashtun linage to our total population.

Depends on my mood, though in practical terms, No, especially the current crop of 'Khans'. Language and cultural attachment are important too.

I think most of us learned a long time ago that hereditary surnames such as 'Khan' do not automatically equal being Pashtun. Quite frequently you come across people who will brag about their Pashtun 'pedigree' - as if hair, skin and temperament were qualifying factors for being Pashtuns. Typically they see Pashtuns through the same stereotypical lens that many from the plains have.

You could argue that many English folk are historically Scandanavian, Roman, French, German and so on. In real terms the politics and attitudes couldn't be more different.

The point resistance, was that some people will look at these bollywood khans and just because they are guys, they will idolize them as pashtun role models ..but they would get angry if a girl does the same thing

so my answer/question was to answer manzareh's question in a rhetorical sense

Brother everyone capitalizes on the sacrifices of the conservative yet freedom loving Pashtun especially those who never lifted a stick themselves. The reputation that comes with the Afghan Pashtun or Pathan identification wasn't achieved by drinking, dancing, or pimping. So to see such people try to capitalize on these titles is ironic.

The people who consider Bollywood Khans as role models are obviously idiots. These men sell their bodies and beliefs for fame and fortune. That is not how our predecessors liberated their land from the Persians, Mughuls, British, or Soviets. Our role models are these liberators, defenders of our naang and naamos.

                          Yea

Pashtuns, or even Punjabies in the west after three generations, will you consider them "Pashtun" or "Punjabi"?

Those khans of Bollywood are around third generation Pashtun, just because they were raised in India doesn't mean they lose all their identity.

Afghans in the west have been there for close to 30 years. The ones whose parents fled the war our having children of their own. Do these kids lose all their identity now?

                          Also,

Shahrukh Khan got his hustling spirit from his Afghan blood.

Salman Khan got his "Zanika Bazi" from his Afghan blood.

how generous of you to highlight that qais.
any dumb**** knows that only physical characteristic of a blood related father can be passed on to his children and a man or woman's social behavior depends on what they themselves choose to collect for themselves from the society. for instance, you rap because of the environment where you grew up not because your father was a rapper.
afghans are not "zanaka baz" so don't inject that thought in to anyone's mind or excuse your own manwho-rness by blaming it on your afghan blood.

                              برا تو

Most of the Bollywood Khans had grandparents who moved to India, for their new found development. Just the same for the Afghan refugee's who moved to the west for a "better life". If your still gong to call the ones who moved west "Afghans"' then now come you can't still call the ones who moved to India "Afghans"?

I can rhyme anywhere, if I grew up in the village or city btw.

Zanaki Bazi part was a joke, tuuu.
