  • Pashto Film - The Wrong Path

The still looks like a stylised improvement on Pashto films as we know them. Looks like the film got its German Premiere today, but according to Lar/Bar Website, its already had a Dutch release a couple of weeks back.

Would welcome reviews should anyone come across this flick.

Hmm. Could be. Expect some flaws. Best to wait and see.

On the other hand, we need the 'positive' media.

afghan, pashtun, pakistani, etc. films are not worth the 2-4 hours they take to watch.

we should stick to iranian and bollywood movies.

^So far they've been pretty poor, but the other major film producers - the Americans and the Indians produced absolute drivel in the 80s (and many might argue that they still churn out more trash than gems).

On the other hand, on of my favourite films of all times is an Iranian film, Bachaaye Aasmaan made on a shoe string budget of $180K. If Pashtoons are at rock bottom when it comes to films, the only way is up, I guess.

i cant really understand their horrible emasculate persian accent, but they generally have subtitles.

i saw an iranian film recently. it was nice, but i cant remeber its name.

actually, old pashto films, both black and white and color from both pakistan and afghanistan werent that bad and they had good storylines.

                      but nows different.

This is a welcome development---Who is in the cast by the way? The shift to Afghanistan of such cultural activities will have a huge nationalistic and centripetal impact on the rest of Pashtuns.

that one guy looks like zakheil's son. but seriously, as long as it's the quality of the movie and not the material used it is what is making us want to whine non stop, we should still keep encouraging people to make more pashto movies.. maybe they just need the confidence to get out there and do their thing.. eventually they will start making sense.
they should make movies about day to day life issues...enough of my father was this and my grandfather was that before the war..it's boring and predictable... no one wants to hear yet another sad story...

I am no bird, and no nest ensnares me.

non commercial would cost less if he was in charge himself which he plans on doing. right now it's n herat but soon it will be in qanadahar.
