it's not funny, it's ridiculous and disrespectful to families who have actually been through situations like that. it does happen but not like this.

I am no bird, and no nest ensnares me.

non commercial would cost less if he was in charge himself which he plans on doing. right now it's n herat but soon it will be in qanadahar.

we have become a big fat joke to people around the globe. when they are not busy with assisting us to get back on our feet, they take the pictures of our people dying from hunger and poverty and publish it in their magazines like like a bunch of animals from a zoo or something.
honestly, nothing pisses me off more than watching the picture of a hungry afghan child in television or some website. awareness my foot, all they want is a reaction from each other and nothing makes for a better tool than us for that.

I am no bird, and no nest ensnares me.

this news is fake, the kid is pashtun and the so called father is kabuli ,it was probably shot in the refugee camps in kabul where helmandis live.

this whole video is staged and fake.

but it does happen sometimes but not as if its the norm in that situation.

              ANOTHER example of staging?
I caught it on the drug raid one

but actually I would not have so easily guessed here.

              GYE, can you explain more.
Was all of it contrived, in your opinion?
The bandit part seemed REALLY WEIRD.
Why is a bandit going to let an Australian journalist into his compound?
              There are too many questions.
Besides, even if that's true that the dacoit types are selling people to Taliban,
that doesn't reveal a cooperation in military operations.
What would the Taliban do with a wealthy son, anyway, any differently than this gang which has already issued threats to his family.
That part doesn't make sense to me, but who knows...
The part about the Lexus did sound accurate.
Also notice the fanciest late model probably American pickup truck that the Afghan police use.

              That part SURE seemed staged.
I bet such successful releasing of captives by Karzai govt militias takes place once in a blue moon or two...I see them as unbelievably un-motivated.

Listen, this faking of video footage regarding Afghanistan is as old as Dan Rather's foray into -- the Tribal Areas, NOT Afghanistan - where according to knowledgeable sources, an attack was faked completely for the viewers of CBS=American TV.

How lasting the impression from this faked scene was, was shown by the fact that the ONLY coordinate almost any American had for quite some number of YEARS later when I said I went into Afghanistan " Oh, you mean like Dan Rather?"

No, thank God, NOT like his faked footage and pretending to be brave going near a battle .... Americans and Westerners will believe ANYthing that is fed to them

on let me break it down for you

the story begins with the so called wealthy woman from kabul coming to buy a child, riding an old toyota.the so called father is crying 'fake',the kid looks pashtun, when she gives the money he tends to count them but than refrains.the way the buyer woman talks is totally scripted like those cheap afghan movies.
scene 2:the so called taliban commander is sittign like an indian movie villain with an afghan military pistol laying on the piece of paper.look ho whe signs the paper and acts tough.and how they tak emoney for electricity lol.
scene3:police attack on the abductors home:the woman who knocks on the door says "give me a little bread im a begger" no begger ever says that.
and than the cops say "dont move yourself".they arrest the kidnappers with their faces covered LOL do you want to tell me they were sitting home with their faces covered?look at the face of the kindapped kids and pay attention to the one on the left he is not a good actor.
scene 4: is real about the old man who been kidnapped.

scene 5:sitting up a meeting with kidnappers:the title already is strange ,how can you set up a meeting with kidnappers.the kidnappers hair is made of platic, its fake hair.he says if they dont give him money he will take his eyes out and send him to hospital and call his parents.why send him to hospital if you are the evil kidnapper or we will sell him to taliban ? for what?.and the reporter goes on "another proof that there is a link between criminal gangas and taliban". how much will the taliban pay?they will pay how much we want LOL.

conclusion: the guy and women were paid to act as if they are selling/buying th ekid.
the so called taliban commander is in no way or action taliban, from his weapon it seems he is a police officer.
the police raid was totally fake, the guys arrested had their faces covered and the police were pointing guns at their heads even thought hey are handcuffed.the kids who were freed were police officers or their relatives.
the old man story is true
the kidnappers are yet again police officer or the friends of the big bearded man in suite.

these people were probably paid around 20/30 dollars.

                        Ha Ha !
I wonder which one that was?
Video games? Maybe war movies, but even that doesn't too likely, after all how many war movies have been made about Afghanistan in the entire 1900s when Hollywood was not so taken over by --- those who have ruled it for the past half century probably.
There WERE a number of movies about the British in India. One or two good ones, I have to remember the names.

But NEVER about any of their campaigns in Afghanistan, to my knowledge.

So why would Taliban be watching war movies? They could not possibly be World War II buffs. Or American Civil War aficionados!

This guy, Dan Rather, was the king of American news anchors.

I never watched him or any of them, knowing them to be fakes.
Today's anchors are even way worse, though: Plastic people looking and acting dumb !

The old anchors may have had a little more intelligence.
But even so the bad news got released about the even more famous Walter Kronkite, from an earlier era, when he died a few years ago. Even then, he favored awful stuff like gay marriage.

This guy was considered a paragon of American respectability, too!

So move up to 1980 and Dan Rather's theatrical scene seen by so many Americans of pretending to be in a battle against occupying Soviet forces in Afghanistan.

I don't think this story has ever gotten out, either, about this taking place very near PESHAWAR!

I wrote about it in a magazine article on American and European journalists covering the Afghan war against the Sovs.

But so overwhelming was Dan Rather's reputation that I didn't mention by name.
I said a prominent news anchor.

Later, stories filtered out that backed up my information.

It's still barely known, due to the clout of the Media machine and their backers!

So that's Dan Rather's faked "Daring Exclusive" from the battle front lines.
Believe me, this scene was remembered by Americans for so long.
Sadly, it shows how easily manipulated they are by the three or now five or so main TV networks. No one even questioned this til my source came forward and told me the realities. He had been there at that time.
Let me look back at my article to see if there were more details to this sham escapade..

Meanwhile, I'd like to hear about THIS guy. What a laugh!

Sometimes such videos quietly are pulled off of Youtube.

                            That would have been funny.

I'm interested in the experiences of American or other reporters captured by Taliban, if you come across any interesting ones, could you post?
There's a dumb one about David Rohde of NYT I saw recently.
He and his wife were interviewed and he especially looked like SUCH a robot.
                            I was shocked.
