I wouldn't really describe Hari Singh as a lovely person. He was responsible for a lot of death and destruction of Pashtun lands (i'm not saying he was the only one of course). But he wasn't a popular ruler.

i wouldnt describe him as a lovely person either, but a true warrior though (for his people). The Pashtuns killed him under the forces of Prince Akbar Khan so eventually he lost.

the nobility of anything and everything good in this universe doesn't always have to depend on us. life is about appreciating your surroundings and you will never get to that if you spend your entire life time staring at your own reflection in the mirror. and don't forget, it's only an image.

What is Sikh land? Is there one to defend?

Great warriors to me are not Generals who do the planning. They are people who do the actual warrioring.

^^^^what about them. They may or may not have elitist attitude depending upon which generation they belong to.But again those people will have this attitude not only towards Muslims but Hindus of lower class as well.
BTW they form less than 5% of our population.

How in the name of god did u infer that from my post.
Brahmins r at the top of the caste structure, therefore an elitist among them is bound to consider every1 else as inferior.

Not taking anything away from the Pashtuns but high mountains and inhospitable terrain does make defensive postures a little easier as compared to rolling river plains. And its frankly no use comparing communities based on their past. Present stature would be a better indicator for a community.

Inhospitable terrain is the same for both sides. Anyway this logic would suggest, once the terrain is occupied, it would be impossible to retake because it is inhospitable, according to you.

Yes it is. But there's a difference between knowing the terrain for centuries and conquering it for 10 years. If you're telling me that geographical features had no role to play in adding to the resistance of Pashtun populations, you got to be kidding me.

And we are comparing mountains with plains. Anybody well versed with military tactics will tell you which is easier to defend.

Again, I am not taking anything away from the fighting nature and courage of the Pashtuns. Hardly anybody matches them.

Pashtuns are not like taxi drivers that they have maps of the terrain in their head. Terrain knowledge is not difficult to obtain. Invading forces just need to scout the area and create maps.

What usually happens in warfare or used to happen, is that once an invading force occupied mountainous areas, they would set up hill forts that were more more difficult to overrun than forts on flat land.

Once an invading army has settled on flat land and built its fort, it is more easier to overrun if on flat land. So it should be easier to drive out invaders from flat lands than from mountainous ones.
