No, I guess you are right. It seems like an okay variation. I don't have a large sample size. I was just envisioning my family (all 4 grandparents are from different tribes) and that may slightly skew my perception. Don't take my assumption that Pashtuns are generally fairer skinned than a lot of other ethnic groups around them as some sort of superiority complex. There is no benefit to fairer skin, I will tell you that from personal experience. The only benefit is in Pakistan where people use fair skin colour as a criteria for marriage (very very very very embarrassing and it disgusts me). I also need to reply to the other guy, I will continue this discussion.Originally posted by randolph85 View Postseems pretty varied to me, did you expect to see pics of whiter skinned pashtuns?

Agreed. Most important thing is how honorable, loyal they are and what they do for our people moving forward. I agree with you in everything here. Racism within our community exists because of our proximity with India and their obsession with being fair. Pashtuns ARE generally fairer (not always, we vary a lot as these pictures show) than most ethnic groups in this area so I suppose our people used this as an advantage to gain higher status in India/Pakistan (it has worked too). I think many of our people also associate lighter skin with being more 'racially pure'. I've heard this pathetic argument with a fellow pashtun brother who said that light skinned pashtuns are the most unmixed. It was funny. Like I said when I was talking to Kushan Prince here, many Pashtuns who are darker still retain pashtun facial features such as some of our notoriously big/hook/bumped noses, coloured eyes, broad shoulders, stature etc.

They try everything to prove that they are not south asian but some northren european.
A true pashtun is judge by his pashtunwali, quality and nang or gerat.
I would salute to a indic or even african look pashtun if he can do something for my people and language.
We have many european look pashtuns but they are loyal servants of punjabis and out siders so why should we discriminate people on the bases of colour.
My entire family from father side and nearly 60% of my khail is green eyes and look like very fair and red on face so what?
is that make me some superior?
no
I am after geratmand and patriotic pashtuns .
salim saifullah marwat and his brother are look like eastren european and they are the most patriotic pakis and anti-pashtun.
They oppose the renaming of pashtunkhwa.
Same as many other pashtuns.
so why should i feel proud for them?
I am not oppose to these picture but this is wrong to discriminate people on the base of colour.
pashtuns are of mix colours even in one family they look different sometime.

Who told you that pakhtuns used their fair complexion to attain higher social status in india/pakistan? What kind of non-sense is this?. In the history , pakhtun's sword and strength helped them in establishing rule. Fair complexion is of no use to a pashtun watchman in punjab.Originally posted by Baraki View PostAgreed. You took what I said completely wrong. This is not exactly intentional, it is just how the racial complex in india and Pakistan worked. The heart of our people speaks for itself, we did not need any thing else. Not exactly big, but there is the shape that I am referring to that youmay or may not know what I am referring to.Originally posted by Smarty View PostWho told you that pakhtuns used their fair complexion to attain higher social status in india/pakistan? Listen dude, hindostan/pakistan has colour and height complex for historical reasons. Tall and fair aryan invaders conquered india and declared locals as low-caste. Aryan means noble.Tall stature and fair complexion began to be associated with nobility in india. Though mixing took place but the standards remained the same, we are here talking about racism/colourism of 3 thousands years. I am sure its now in the genetics of every indian to think that way.Originally posted by Baraki View PostYou took what I said completely wrong. Muslims invaders of turk, afghan and mughal origin didnt give the equal status to local converts who were mostly from shudra and dalit castes so there was always the urge in hindostani muslims to associate themeselves with their turk, afghan and persian masters. The colour and height complex in hindostani muslims was always there since aryan invasion. British rule further deterioted their thinking, a very white and fair master treated them worse than dogs so inferiority complex heightened to new levels.
Pashtuns on the other hand, didnt bow to british like genetically subservient slaves of hindostan. We killed and hunted down these "goras", didnt accept british dress, culture and ways of life. British observed this difference and wrote it down in their books. Even enemy will respect you if you are not a lowly subservient dog with inferiority complexes, like indics/desisHistory of Pashtuns
