this is the most haunting and upsetting picture i have seen from afghanistan.
the picture is actually showing us that there is a lot wrong with the world and the situation in afghanistan, where a woman can be in such an appalling situation.
she appears to have a prosthetic leg and foot, totally impoverished and so desperate, that she is in the mud, to beg, i assume.
she may not even be able to get up without assistance.Last edited by faye; 02-20-2013, 09:48 PM.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai
For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."
The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

It's sad for us to see but I'm sure people just pass by without even thinking that is it a human or animal because that's what the world has turned to

Other nations have suffered more than we have... and trust me they raise up and become strong. Example of Germany is before you....
To the quote on civilized world not caring... why should we expect civilized world to care? Are we ourself civilized? When discussion of civilization occurs we start talking about traditions and religion.... we need to learn to be humans first..... until and unless we learn to be human first will only then we deserve to be called civilized, religious etc etc....From the creator of www.pakhtun.com and its web forum Da Pukhtano Majlas the complete Pakhtun website!!!

Liwanai that is the irony, "civilised" is quite far from what we are. Just like the concurrent post about sharbat gulla and assaultin privacy just because she happened to be in public, her right isnt it to be wandering in public?Originally posted by laevanay View PostI agree its sad and each one of us can be better
