Atop the Monkey Hell (if I am not wrong) where the renown temple is overlooking the Kathmandu valley.

Hi Muska, I am sorry I happened to see you post just now.

Nepal is a nice place to visit. I guess it is an interesting place with unique culture and civilization (Indian and Budhist/Chinese), and with an interesting history. Given its complex social structure its been going through political upheavals in the past decade and more, although things look more settled and the country has been transitioning.

Many people simply go there for touring the landscapes and mountaineering given the worlds best and highest heights are in that country. I went there for a project evaluation and got to spend only 5 days. Faye, could tell you alot more.

It is a place where you go with your best pals and go out to the mountains and landscapes. Try to encourage Faye and Toramana. ;-)

i was there in the 70's so it could be different there now, socially but i found the nepalese to be placid and satisfied. not interested in outsiders so much, and therefore less bothersome than i found the indians to be..at that time. the indians always asked heaps of personal questions but the nepalese were not intrusive.
the landscape was divine. beautiful and similar to the northern pakistan photos of the mountains and streams.
it was an easy country to travel around in, as a woman and i did a solo journey for about 11 days into the mountains where i met and travelled with nepali men carrying heavy loads upon their backs, to deliver to the villages along the way. we all camped on the floor in small chai cafes. hassle free, really.
i have many stories from there but that is the basics.
