Just from the title and the first pics, I was going to say it's a French woman doctor and Afghan assistant at a clinic set up in Wardak by Amin Wardak.
Then I saw the pic of him holding he book
about Medecins du Monde.
It's hard to recapture this era for many who are younger.
But for me, it's wonderful to go back in memory.
The days of many brave French women doctors who traveled
where no other Westerners would go to provide medical care.
There were many French men physicians, too, but the most respected
were those like Laurence Lammounier. [Though she later cooperated
with American efforts in the 2000s]
Where were Americans at THAT time ? A few started up medical
relief. But VERY LATE in the game. Usually CIA-backed, like
Americares.
These are marvelous pictures. What a treasure trove.
I wonder who this Jose Nicholas is?
Did you find these on a site of his, Haris?
Yes nice peactures, sometimes is really weird to see this pictures, and pictures from this day. Is Wardak changed a lot or is it steal the same? Have somebody present pictures of Wardak? I would really like to see some.
He is a traveller of some sort. He has been to Afghanistan recently as well with French troops I think.
Got the images here: Afghanidtan 1984 - a set on Flickr
