Btw all these pics are fascinating but you have to realize that rural India is still pretty much still like this, what you see in bollywood with all the westernization doesn't probably even make 5% of India

Much of rural India is now not like these photos. There are a lot of changes even in many rural areas. Not saying however that the rural areas are like downtown New York. Lots of poverty still there but you will not now find a flour making thing (chaki) like in a photo or those "fakirs" like that sitting at the Golden Temple. Nor will you now find bullocks being shoed in Calcutta! Nor a 3 rope bridge over the Jhelum in Pakistan.
Even UK at the time of these photos was very different. e.g. many people could hardly afford to have shoes, people would catch birds or fish or rabbits for meat, and would use newspapers as toilet paper etc. etc.
^ I am talking about the lack of urbanization and westernization, I think those only apply to certian classes in main cities. Certainally bollywood doesn't represent 90% of India.
My dad went to India in 2004, He traveled from Rajastan to Banaras UP and he said that what we see in movies or indian Tv is not true at all for the most part, actually he also took photos of the rural areas, and honestly they dont look really different from these pics, only that the pics are colored

Bollywood nowadays is just entertainment (at most). Indian TV serials - again just entertainment (not to me so much). Urbanization - the cities and towns have all gotten a lot bigger but majority still live in the villages.
If you can, try to post the recent photos. It will be interesting to see and no doubt there are plenty of areas where not much would have changed.
I have never been south of Delhi so I cannot say for all "India". However most of the southern states - where all those DARK "Dravidians" live, lol they are not ALL each and everyone dark e.g. Hema Malini), have made a lot "progress" compared to the past. In the last 7 years or so the new chief minister in Bihar has made a lot of improvements, such that Bihari labourers are starting to stop coming to Punjab for work in farms.
So definitely there are changes. In the past up to even the late 1960s in Punjab villages people would only have lanterns and diwas but now they got electricity, fridges, TVs, even washing machines (not saying everyone has all these). In 60s cars being owned by villagers would have been quite rare and now not rare.
I have not been to Punjab for about 10 years and everyone tells me a lot has changed in all that time. Nevertheless, in a capitalist system with a lot of corruption added in, it is "dog eat dog", so India cannot make progress as fast as they could do if it was a better run system, and those who are dirt poor, bad hygiene etc. - its all there still in their 100s of millions.
I wouldn't mind going to india, just to check it out, indeed it's a very exotic country, that's why so many westerners visit it. I can use my Canadian passport instead of the pakistani one
anyways the areas outside Mumbai are pretty beautiful, I didn't know there were mountains outside mumbai:
i was in india in 2006 and 2008. it is the most amazing country i have been to and i have been to about 28.
it is still very cheap to eat and for accommodation. the people are in general very friendly and helpful. i could walk around the streets at night safely.
i don't understand why the indian government doesn't have beautiful tourist footage to show the world that it is not just 'slumdog millionaire' as it has an incredibly diverse culture, ancient architecture and beautiful natural environment. the himalayas, deserts and hundreds of national parks or nature reserves.
go there karachi.

I will go for sure, you need to visit India atleast 2-3 times, because it's so big
You have every right to go to India as and when you want. It will be good when (one day in future) borders become open again and people can travel far and wide as they please - like in olden days. But that cannot happen until there is full peace in the region.
I really recommand you to visit india, especially if you are mahajir
Why are the gates open just for Muhajir's who make up just 14 Million of the Pakistani population. What about the rest 160 million or so?
Both India and Pakistan need to improve trade and easen up restrictions for each other to get into their lands
