google 'sand festival' wikipedia or 'sand sculpture.' they are 3D sculptures made from sand.
when i was a kid we used to go in 'sand modelling' comps at the beach, during school holidays. same thing just a different name. they have these competitions world wide now and they must add something to the sand to keep the structures in place. we just used water and sand. ours were nothing like the standards now.
