This is another problem with so called "Sunni" muslims...

that they think that as long as they just pray the 5 time prayer and mind their own business they have done enough for Allah.

No my friend. A real muslim's character is to be politically active.

The individuals don't care for islam, and so the nation doesn't care!

If the individuals change, then the nation will change!

I don't know what kind of propaganda you've been listening to, but the problems have largerly been the fault of sunni muslims. Didn't the Ottomons wage seige campaigns against the holy city of Mecca and Medina? they weren't shias..they were sunnies.
