  • nothing to alarming in the book. Confirms everything anyone with some common sense would have known before. Basically, they threaten Afghan officials that they can replace them, however, they don't have the means to follow through, so they get frustrated. The cycle repeats itself over and over, and is pretty comical. Like Rahm Emanuel says (there are quotes in the book) that he can install his own governors in Afghanistan because he was getting fed up with karzai's selected governors. They also make it very clear that nation building is not their objective. See, its confusing. some call Karzai a puppet, but I just see him as a man who is trapped. I understand why he is not liked by Afghans, but that is not the reason why Obama officials don't like him. Not worth buying the book. Just go to a local bookstore and skim through the pages.
