it depends on what you are refering to. There are groups of muslims who use the word Salafi. Others use the word ahlul hadith.

Salafi means, people who follow the methodology of the salaf ( the first 3 generations of muslims after prophet muhammad saww)

This term is flawed in my opinion because it is creating a new sect.

I prefer ahlul hadith. Meaning people who rely on hadith in their jurisprudence rather than opinion of mullahs.
