Malaysia secures RM2.9 billion housing project in Bangladesh
APRIL 29, 2014
Malaysia has secured a RM2.9 billion housing project comprising 12,000 apartment units in Bangladesh.
Special envoy to India and South Asia Datuk Seri Utama S. Samy Vellu received the Provisional Letter of Award for the project from Bangladesh Housing and Public Works Minister Mosharraf Hossain in Dhaka today.
The project will be implemented by a Malaysian consortium of Gemilang Land Development Sdn Bhd and ALM Builders Sdn Bhd under a government–to–government cooperation between Putrajaya and Dhaka.
Malaysian companies will invest, with the profits coming from the sales of the units.
The project is expected to be completed in 30 months using the industrialised building system, which Malaysia will introduce for the first time in Bangladesh. – Bernama, April 29, 2014
1. This deal is less than a $1 billion.
2. Malaysia is in my personal opinion the best friend of Bangladesh in the Muslim world and the Muslim country that I personally feel the closest to.
3. Malaysia's capital, Kuala Lumpur is first world and more developed than most European capitals e.g. Rome, Athens etc.
Glad to see Malaysia get this deal rather than countries like Turkey or Saudi Arabia both of whom have shown hostility to Bangladesh.
They will miss out on billions of dollars in lost deals due to their provocative and hostile behaviour.
