  • Weapons, including Iranian-made, seized in Nimroz

ZARANJ (PAN): Border police in southwestern Nimroz province have seized weapons and munitions, including Iranian-made, near the border with Iran, officials said on Tuesday.
The weapons and munitions were seized in Charbrujak and Kung districts Monday during operations by police, commander of the 9th brigade border police, Col. Abdul Naseer Ayar, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The munitions included five different types of mines, two jerry cans packed with explosives, a pressure cooker filled with explosives, two missiles, 12 RPGs, six mine fuses, a battery, wares, remote-control and other kind of explosives. The munitions were recovered from two depots near the border with Iran, the official said.
Ayar believed the explosives were meant for attacking police convoys. Police had launched an investigation, but no one had so far been arrested.
A security official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the seized materials contained three antipersonnel mines and two rocket launchers with marks “Made in Iran”.
Police defused the three Iranian-made mines buried under the ground, he said. The official said the remaining weapons were made in China and Russia.
The seizure came five days after Nimroz security forces captured 19 tonnes of explosive devices from a container imported from Iran.
The foreign ministry later announced the explosives had been brought to the northern province from Iran and were made in that country
The devices had been placed in 337 boxes inside a 40-foot shipping container transferred from the neibhouring country over a bridge linking Afghanistan and Iran, an official has said.
However, Iranian foreign ministry has denied the claim, saying the materials smuggled to Afghanistan were not explosives.
Tehranhas consistently denied supporting groups opposed to the Afghan government.Source

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!
