DPC to block Nato supply routes

LAHORE: The Defence of Pakistan Council (DPC) Steering Committee has formulated proposals for blocking the Nato supply if it is reopened by the government, and final decision will be taken by the DPC session at Mansoora on May 19.

This was stated by Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Liaqat Baloch while talking to media after the meeting of Steering Committee of the DPC held at Mansoora on Monday. Liaqat Baloch, who is also Chairman of the Steering Committee, suggested that the DPC might launch a long march or sit-in at all routes of the NATO supply.

He warned rulers to refrain from taking any coward act of reopening of the NATO supply line or the nation would go to any extent and rulers would have to face the music. He condemned the statement of Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar about imminent restoration of NATO supply. “The meeting of Chief of Army Staff Ashfaq Pervaiz Kiani, Afghan General Sher Muhammad Karimi and NATO forces leader General Allen has deepened the concern of the nation for the security and integrity of the country,” he added.
