PressTV - US-led soldier killed in E Afghanistan
UPDATE 1
A US-led foreign soldier has been killed in a militant attack in eastern Afghanistan as armed clashes in the war-torn country appear to gain momentum.
The soldier serving with the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) was killed in the attack in volatile eastern Afghanistan on Wednesday, Reuters quoted ISAF as saying in a statement on Thursday.
No further details on the incident have been released by the ISAF.
In a similar incident on Wednesday, a French soldier with the US-led ISAF was killed in Afghanistan's northeastern province of Kapisa.
The latest death brings the total number of the US-led soldiers killed in Afghanistan to 422, according to official figures released by the website iCasualties.org.
Violence in Afghanistan has escalated to record highs since the US-led invasion of the country began in October 2001.
The Taliban have focused their roughly ten-year battle against the invading US-led forces in Afghanistan on the country's southern provinces of Helmand and Kandahar.
The rising death toll of US-led foreign forces in the war-torn Afghanistan has also prompted growing opposition to the Afghan war in NATO member states and other countries that have contributed troops to the military occupation.
