Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth.
The parable of His Light is,
as it were, that of a niche containing a lamp;
the lamp is enclosed in glass, the glass like a radiant star;
lit from a blessed tree--an olive tree
that is neither of the east nor of the west--
the oil of which would almost give light
even though fire had not touched it: light upon light!
Allah guides to His Light the one who wills to be guided;
and Allah offers parables to human beings,
since Allah has full knowledge of all things.
Allahu nurus samawati wal'ard.
Mathalu nurihi kamishkatin fiha misbahun, 'almisbahu
fi zujajatin, azzujajatu ka'annaha
kawkabun durriyyun yuqadu min shajaratim mubarakatin
zaytunatil la sharqiyyatin wa la gharbiyyatin
yakadu zaytuha yudee'u
wa law lam tamsas-hu-naar.
Nurun 'ala nuur.
Yahdillahu linurihi man yashaa.
Wa yadribullahul amthala linnaas.
Wallahu bikulli shay'in 'aleem.
[24:35]
Again I am reminded of yesterday and the telling of stories by our Sisters, the one of the 4 Wives, and the other of the Donkey. So often Allah speaks to us through parables, and we like children are fascinated, and hunger for more. We need, my opinion, to encourage each other more in the Faith, always to be aware of new ways to strengthen each other.
"Are we consumed by the experiences of life? Or do we consciously experience life with mindfulness and trust? Is our inner life dependent on outer conditions, or is it becoming free of them."
I humble myself before you my brothers and sisters, as a younger Muslim, and one who is taking part in a 99-Day course on Islam. When I share here, it helps me to receive some clarity, at that which I am learning. I have so much to learn from all of you who have been brought up in this Faith.
