Afghanistan now imports most essentials from Central Asia, only the prices of some food and veg has gone up. The wheat from Kazakhstan and Uzbekitan is even cheaper. Closing the border only effects the Pashtuns on both sides and trade is diverted to central Asia meaning non Pashtuns see an increase in their business up north. It is not as if terrorists use the legal border crossings to move about. Both countries need to stop using trade as blackmail tool.
