Afghanistan officially became World Trade Organization’s (WTO) member on December 17, 2015. This is another historic achievement for the Afghan nation. The key to Afghanistan’s long-term peace and stability is economic prosperity and development.
WTO membership would bring many economic opportunities to Afghanistan, enhance and attract more investment, stimulate economic growth and solve some of the major transit issues of Afghanistan with neighboring countries.
WTO membership means that member nations will automatically receive the most favored nation status. This also means that all 162 WTO members must treat each other fairly and do not give preferential trade benefit to any one member without giving it to all.
In your opinion, will WTO membership for Afghanistan stimulate its economy?
