  • USAID’s Efforts in the Economic Sector of Afghanistan

Decades of conflict devastated Afghanistan’s economy and drove millions of Afghans away from their homes and livelihoods. Over the past decade, Afghanistan has made steady progress in economic, health, education, rural development, customs, horticulture and livestock, irrigation, and telecommunications sectors.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has worked tirelessly with the Afghan government, private sector, and international partners to implement laws and policies to support trade, increase exports, promote transparency, and reduce trade barriers.

The new government of Afghanistan has also pledged to help further improve the economic sector by more liberalized trade policies to improve the country’s business climate and to enhance trade with neighboring countries and the region.

In your opinion, what steps can the new government take to enhance economic development?

    Very respectfully,

    Hashmat
