Ensuring the credibility, inclusivity and transparency of presidential elections in 2014, is critical to the future stability of Afghanistan. Afghan media can play a critical role in 2014 Presidential elections. The media can observe and report election updates in professional and responsible manner, particularly in high risk, politically unstable provinces.
Casting votes in remote area of Afghanistan is a taboo for young men and women. Another crucial role media can play is to educate and inform men in remote areas of the country, to allow women vote for their preferred candidates, through radio and television stations. Women account for a significant portion of the population in Afghanistan. And this will have a great impact on voters turnout.
