The leadership of the Taliban movement wants to discuss neither an armistice nor the further presence of the U.S. troops in Afghanistan, Taliban Spokesman Zabiula Mujahid told newsmen in Kabul, denying all statements a report of the Royal College of Defence Studies contained.
It said that some high-ranking Taliban representatives are ready to discuss the terms of the ceasefire with the government of Hamid Karzai and that they might agree to a long-term presence of the U.S. troops in Afghanistan and also to the use of the military bases in Kandahar, Heart, Jalalabad, Mazar-i-Sharif, and Kabul. Mujahid called this report a lie and absolutely groundless.
