Threat of terrorism in Pishin

The Pashtoon belt of Baluchistan is relatively developed in the field of economy, education and Politics; the ongoing frequent movement of Taliban under the Umbrella of Pakistan ISI is posing severe threat to the centuries old cultural set-up and peace of district Pishin. Since 2012, more than three incidents of kidnapping were traced by the local people and district administration, but the situation is getting worst by every passing day due to the increasing Taliban’s settlement in the region. Swat, the land of intellectual and beauty, was destroyed, people were displaced and the normal life of people was put to hell by the so called strategic assets of the Military establishment. It is worth to note that the local Mullas are equally involved helping the ISI in sheltering extremist to re launch operation in Afghanistan. Many Questions come to my mind that why this land has been selected for the Militants, in order to find a logical ends, thus I studied about the settlement of Taliban, its purpose and the sponsored agencies in the region. Now it is very clear to understand the scene, the land of Waziristan and Swat is no more conducive to launch terrorist attack in Afghanistan, moreover the KPK Govt also took very stringent measures in rooting out such anti-human element from society. Furthermore, the frequent drone attacks on the hide out of terrorist pushed them to get settled somewhere else in the Pashtoon region.
The Pakistani establishment considers Taliban as their tool to serve the best interest of the country; in a democratic country, it is the mandate of Legislature to decide about the national interest rather than agencies. Undoubtedly, terrorism and extremism are totally alien to our Pashtoon culture. The presence of Taliban, in the Pashtoon belt of Balochistan- Quetta, Qilla Abdullah, Muslim Bagh and Particularly Pishin, are serious threat to the life of people. Taliban is creating militancy and extremism in the mind of youth; the practices of such elements are contrary to the basic values of the Culture. There is a great possibility that the core traits of Pashtoonwali like co-existence, flexibility, patience will be converted into violence and intolerance by such group. In Taliban’s presence, the women are expected to be the prime target as evident from the Kidnapping of Lady Health Worker from the basic health unit (BHU) Malezei ,a village in the District of Pishin along with three other medical technician officers. Bloodshed is likely to be the routine task, destruction of girls school will be their prime target and it will be followed by a Swat like military operation or a drone attacks in which the centuries old settled Pashtoon will be displaced as in Waziristan. Once again, the land of Pashtoon will be used for the ill-interest of Pakistan.
Courage and bravery are the two traits of the Pashtoon; unfortunately these were time and again exploited by the enemy to cater their own interest. Hope is still there to cope with menace, unity among various sub-tribes of the Pashtoon like Tareen, Kakar, Achakzei and Syed can only be the only solution. It is also necessary to note that the city district is totally helpless to take any action against Taliban, as Taliban are under the supervision of ISI and Military. Responsibility lies on the shoulder of
Political parties, especially PSO, a Pashtoon nationalist party to play an active role on the awareness of local people. Another Pashtoon’s nationalist party, ANP which has bit say in the affairs of Govt, needs to do their job effectively. JUI, a religious party once harboring these elements must take strict steps to save this region from bloodshed and killing. People of all fields must know the evils and do their best in their part for the promoting harmony and peace.
The local feuds among various castes by the chieftains must be stopped once for all so as to redirect their energy against the elimination of common enemy. Let’s hope for better tomorrow, let’s do our job in a better way to give peace a chance, let’s avoid killing, violence and destruction. The only panacea to obliterate these evils from the bud is commitment and sincerity; it’s the real time to show unity and coherence for prosperous future so that our children may live in peace.
