The Nangarhar Olive Factory [NOF] has the capacity to produce about 8.000 tons of oil and other foodstuffs from olive harvests in a year.
Ghulam Gull, Chief of NOF says that the green olive is collected from four farms and then they make sauce from it. They do not collect the remaining olive from the tree until get ripped. "When the olive gets black color and ripped then we bring them from farms to the factory for getting olive oil. I have to say that our olive oil is perfectly pure and first class in the world."
Since 1381[solar year], the olive farms have one to five tons of products. He said although the farms have been affected due to war in the country, but they have been reconstructed with low support at some extend.
He added in spite of farmers from Nangarhar, Laghman and Kunar, other farmers bring their fruit harvests to the factory for making jam that financially support them as well as provide jobs for unemployment people. He pointed out they can make different and good quality sauces and jam in the factory.
According to him, if more attention is paid to this factory the economy of the farmer families would get developed and returned refugees would also get jobs and prevent the poverty and corruption in the community.
