West Indies chose to bat v Sri Lanka

West Indies won a an important toss in Pallekele, choosing to bat first on a surface drier than it has been so far in the tournament. It basically meant that by the time Sri Lanka's chase will enter its second half, they will be batting on a 70-over-old pitch.
Surprisingly, though, West Indies left out Samuel Badree, who impressed against England with four overs for just 20 runs. Fidel Edwards took his place. Sri Lanka made one change too, a forced one. Akila Dananjaya, who was hit in the face by Rob Nicol on debut, stayed out, and Rangana Herath replaced him. Sri Lanka persisted with just four specialist batsmen and three allrounders.
West Indies 1 Chris Gayle, 2 Johnson Charles, 3 Marlon Samuels, 4 Dwayne Bravo, 5 Kieron Pollard, 6 Darren Sammy (capt.), 7 Andre Russell, 8 Denesh Ramdin (wk), 9 Fidel Edwards, 10 Ravi Rampaul, 11 Sunil Narine
Sri Lanka 1 Tillakaratne Dilshan, 2 Mahela Jayawardene (capt.), 3 Kumar Sangakkara (wk), 4 Lahiru Thirimanne, 5 Jeevan Mendis, 6 Angelo Mathews, 7 Thisara Perera, 8 Nuwan Kulasekara, 9 Lasith Malinga, 10 Ajantha Mendis, 11 Rangana Herath
Bismillah, alhamdulillah, all praises due to Allah and may Allah increase the honor of Prophet Muhammad and protect our nation from any harm.
