Afghan media recently reported that five members of the Daesh militant group were killed in security operations in eastern Nangarhar province. According to the Afghan police, the operations were launched based on the request of the residents who have been expressing frustration over Daesh’s brutality and barbarism in their districts. The security operations were conducted by the National Directorate of Security (NDS), the police, and the army jointly, with no civilian casualties to report. With such operations, Afghan National Defense and Security Forces demonstrate that they have the capability to combat Daesh and other militant groups.
