http://presstv.com/detail/225843.html Thu Feb 9, 2012 5:55PM Afghan President Hamid Karzai says all the eight people killed in a US-led aerial attack on the eastern province of Kapisa were children. “The president strongly condemned the aerial bombing by foreign troops that killed a number of children in Nejrab district on Wednesday,” a statement released by the Afghan presidential office on Thursday read. "Based on information by (the) provincial governor, as a result of an air strike conducted on February 8 in Geyawa village in Nejrab district of Kapisa province, eight children were killed," the statement stated. Karzai had assigned a delegation "to launch an all-out probe into the NATO bombing", it added. The loss of civilian lives at the hand of foreign forces has dramatically increased anti-American sentiments in Afghanistan. Afghan President Hamid Karzai has regularly condemned US-led foreign forces for civilian deaths. The United Nations announced on February 4 that last year was the deadliest on record for Afghan civilians. The number of deaths marked a rise of eight percent from the year before, and was roughly double the number from 2007. The US-led invasion of Afghanistan took place in 2001. The offensive removed the Taliban from power, but insecurity continues to rise across Afghanistan, despite the presence of thousands of US-led troops there. MP/JR/IS

like mullah zaeef says in his book, i also agree that karzai is not an evil or cruel man, just incredibly stupid and weak. the guy needs to be kicked in the nuts repeatedly and thrown out on the curb, once all groups have reconciled in afghanistan and there is no need for karzai.

US and the Pakis have pretty much pushed him into a corner, but what did he expect. He is so pathetic. He cant be compared to Nuri Al-Maliki, or Ahmad Chalabi- the experts in duping others. The only thing he can do now is to bring the groups to the table and start a proper Afghan negotiation that will meet all the different groups demands at the end zone. He can definitely bring the NA to the table because he is still on good terms with Fahim. That in itself counts a lot for the peace process. Thats the only thing he can do to matter before he leaves. BUT facts are facts, and Karzai was shopping around for a military war and occupation even before 9/11 The reason they did not allow King Zahir Shah back was (despite his shortcomings) he would never support the war. A ceremonial monarchy would not be a bad idea if it can bring peace and independence to Afghanistan.
